RA (Physics/ Applied Optics/ Laser Technology, Laser, Adaptive Optics/ Photonics) One* Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Optical System Design/ Atmospheric turbulence correction/ adaptive optics, OR 3 years of research/ teaching/ design experience after M.E./ M.Tech (ECE/ EEE/ Applied Physics/ Control system). Desirable: Experience in Optics/ related areas. Knowledge in MATLAB, LabVIEW, Zemax, and Python is preferred.
RA (Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Computer Science) One* Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Computer Science, OR 3 years of research/ teaching/ design experience after M.E./ M.Tech (ECE/ Instrumentation/ Computer Science). Desirable: Experience in Imaging systems & Image Processing. Knowledge in MATLAB, LabVIEW, and Python is preferred.
JRF (Mechanical Engineering) Two* B.E./ B.Tech in relevant subject with first division and NET/ GATE, OR M.E./ M.Tech in relevant subject with first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.
JRF (Electronics Engineering) One* B.E./ B.Tech in relevant subject with first division and NET/ GATE, OR M.E./ M.Tech in relevant subject with first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.
JRF (Physics/ Applied Optics/ Laser Technology, Laser, Opto-Electronics) One* M.Sc. or equivalent in relevant subject with first division and NET/GATE, OR B.E./ B.Tech in first division with NET/ GATE, OR M.E./ M.Tech in relevant subject with first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.
JRF (Chemical Engineering/ Chemistry) One* M.Sc. or equivalent in relevant subject with first division and NET/GATE, OR B.E./ B.Tech in first division with NET/ GATE, OR M.E./ M.Tech in relevant subject with first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.

2024 DRDO CHESS RA and JRF: General Conditions for Research Associates (RA)

Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO)
  1. Candidates must have attained the essential qualifications and been awarded their degree on or before 31st July 2024 to apply.
  2. Upper Age Limit: 35 years as of the closing date of application, with relaxation as per Government of India rules.
  3. Ineligible candidates should not apply for 2024 DRDO CHESS RA and JRF.
  4. Candidates employed in Govt/ PSUs/ autonomous bodies must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the interview if called.
  5. At the time of joining, candidates must present all original educational and caste/ category certificates, an Aadhaar card, and two recent passport-sized photos, along with photocopies, for verification. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of selection.
  6. Monthly stipend: ₹67,000/- plus residential accommodation or HRA if accommodation is unavailable.
  7. The Research Associate (RA) position is for 2 years.
  8. Selection Procedure: Shortlisted candidates based on the relevance of research work or PhD thesis will be notified for an interview.
  9. No TA/ DA will be provided.
  10. The RA position does not guarantee absorption into DRDO.
  11. The RA service period will not be considered a service period for any government appointment.
  12. CHESS reserves the right to set its shortlisting criteria and is not obliged to shortlist all eligible candidates. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee selection.
  13. The Competent Authority may modify terms or cancel the selection process of 2024 DRDO CHESS RA and JRF without prior notice.
  14. Application Process: Download and fill out the application form from the ‘What’s New’ section on www.drdo.gov.in. Submit the signed form and required documents in a single PDF file to [email protected] within 30 days of advertisement publication. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

2024 DRDO CHESS RA and JRF: General Conditions for Junior Research Fellows (JRF)

Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO)
  1. Candidates must have attained the essential qualifications and been awarded their degree on or before July 31, 2024, to apply for 2024 DRDO CHESS RA and JRF.
  2. Upper Age Limit: 28 years as of the closing date of application, with relaxation as per Government of India rules.
  3. Ineligible candidates should not apply.
  4. Candidates employed in government, PSUs/ autonomous bodies must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the interview if called.
  5. Candidates must present all original educational and caste/ category certificates, an Aadhaar card, and two recent passport-sized photos during verification, along with photocopies, if selected for the interview. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of selection.
  6. Monthly stipend: ₹37,000/- plus residential accommodation or HRA if accommodation is unavailable.
  7. The fellowship is initially for 2 years, with a potential upgrade to a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) for up to 2 additional years based on performance.
  8. Selection Procedure: Shortlisted candidates based on marks, percentage, and scores will be notified for an interview.
  9. No TA/ DA will be provided.
  10. The JRF position does not guarantee absorption into DRDO.
  11. The fellowship period will not be considered a service period for any government appointment.
  12. CHESS reserves the right to set its shortlisting criteria and is not obliged to shortlist all eligible candidates. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee selection.
