GAIL (India) Limited, a Maharatna PSU and India’s flagship Natural Gas company, has released a Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates in various executive disciplines.

This recruitment offers 29 backlog vacancies in various fields, including law, finance, fire & safety, business information systems, engineering (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, environmental, GAILTEL/telecom, and boiler operations), marketing, HR, medical services, and official language. The selection will be through Group Discussion and/or Interview and other post-specific tests, with excellent pay scales up to ₹2,40,000/- per month in the Maharatna status GAIL.

GAIL is conducting a Special Recruitment Drive exclusively for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) and PwBD candidates to fill backlog vacancies across multiple executive cadres. These posts span E-5, E-2, and E-1 grades with pay scales of ₹50,000–1,60,000, ₹60,000–1,80,000, and ₹90,000–2,40,000 plus allowances, performance-related pay, and superannuation benefits.

Only Indian Nationals meeting the detailed educational qualification, minimum post-qualification experience, and age criteria are eligible. The recruitment is purely through online applications, followed by GD/Interview and skill/physical tests as applicable; there is no common written examination.

1. Chief Manager (Law) – E-5

    • Upper Age Limit: 46 years for OBC(NCL) and 56 years for PwBD-OBC(NCL) (inclusive of relaxations).

2. Senior Officer / Senior Engineer Posts – E-2 (Multiple Disciplines)

All these positions are in E-2 Grade – ₹60,000–1,80,000 with minimum 1 year post-qualification executive in-line experience (including GET/ET/MT where specified).  

(a) Senior Officer (BIS)

  1. Vacancies: 1 (SC backlogs in I-A) + 2 (PwBD in I-B) = 3 total
  2. Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science/IT with 60% OR Bachelor’s Degree with 55% + MCA (2-year) with 60%.
  3. Experience: BIS/IT functions in the government/PSU/large private organizations.

 (b) Senior Officer (F&A)

  • Vacancies: 2 (ST backlog) in Table I-A.
    • Qualification: CA/CMA OR B.Com with 55% + 2-year MBA (Finance) with 60% OR certain Economics/Maths/Statistics honors degrees + MBA (Finance) with 60% OR B.E./B.Tech with 55% + MBA (Finance) with 60%.
    • Experience: 1 year in Finance/Accounts in govt./PSU/large private organization; CA/CMA must hold Associate membership of ICAI/ICMAI.

(c) Senior Officer (F&S – Fire & Safety)

  • Vacancies: 2 (ST backlog) in Table I-A.
    • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Fire/Fire & Safety with 55%; preference to 1-year Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized Central/Regional Labour Institute.
    • Experience: 1 year in Fire & Safety in the Govt./PSU/large private organisation.

(d) Senior Officer (Marketing)

  • Vacancies: 1 (PwBD backlog) in Table I-B.
    • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech with 60% + 2-year MBA with specialization in Marketing / Oil & Gas / Petroleum & Energy / Energy & Infrastructure / International Business with 60%.
    • Experience: 1 year of experience in marketing functions.

(e) Senior Officer (C&P – Contracts & Procurement)

  • Vacancies: 2 (PwBD backlog) in Table I-B.
    • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Chemical/Mechanical/Production/Electrical/Instrumentation/IT/CS/Electronics/Metallurgy/Civil/Telecommunication (including certain combinations) with 60%.

(f) Senior Officer (HR)

(g) Senior Officer (Law)

🔍 Note on Age Limit, Relaxation & Cut-Off Date

  • Upper age limits are clearly given post-wise in Table II and are already inclusive of applicable relaxations for the categories mentioned (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD).
    • Cut-off date for age & experience calculation: 23.12.2025 (last date of application).
    • Maximum upper age with all relaxations: shall not exceed 56 years.
    • Ex-servicemen may deduct their defence service from their actual age as per rules (up to 3 years relaxation if within limits).

  6. Upload a scanned photograph and signature in the prescribed size/format.

Shortlisted candidates must bring originals plus one set of self-attested copies in the order specified:

Failure to produce any required document can lead to rejection of candidature on the spot.

  • General Rule:
    • Shortlisting based on eligibility and application data.
    • Group Discussion (GD) and/or Interview for most posts.
  • Special Cases:
    • Senior Officer (Fire & Safety): Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Interview.
    • Senior Officer (Medical Services): Writing Exercise or similar tool + Interview.
    • Officer (Official Language): Skill Test (translation Hindi↔English) + Interview.
    • For PwBD categories where GD is not suitable (PwBD Cat. B, D & E), Case Study/Writing Exercise or another tool will substitute GD.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks:
    • Interview: 60% for UR/OBC(NCL)/EWS, 55% for SC/ST, 50% for PwBD.
    • GD/Skill/PET/other tools: 40% for UR/OBC(NCL)/EWS, 35% for SC/ST/PwBD.

Final merit will be prepared post-wise based on scores in the prescribed stages.

1. Is there any written examination for GAIL SRD 2025?

No separate written exam is notified. Selection is through Group Discussion and/or Interview, and for some posts, Physical Endurance Test, Skill Test, or Writing Exercise is included.

2. Do SC/ST and PwBD candidates have to pay any application fee?

No. As per Clause 7.1, only OBC (NCL) candidates need to pay an application fee of ₹200/-. SC/ST/PwBD candidates are fully exempt from the application fee.

3. What is the cut-off date for determining age, qualifications, and experience?

The cut-off date is 23.12.2025, i.e., the last date for online registration & submission of application as mentioned in the notification. All eligibility conditions must be fulfilled as of this date.
