Eligibility for CTET Primary Level (Class I to V)

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (CBSE)

To become eligible for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), candidates must meet specific academic qualifications. The following criteria must be met:

1.       Possess a Senior Secondary certificate (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and have either passed or be in the process of completing a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

2.       Alternatively, hold a Senior Secondary certificate (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and have either passed or be in the process of completing a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the NCTE 2002 norms.

3.       Have a Senior Secondary certificate (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and have either passed or are in the process of completing a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) program.

4.       Hold a Senior Secondary certificate (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have either passed or are in the process of completing a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

5.       Possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks and have either passed or are in the process of completing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program. Additionally, those who have acquired the B.Ed qualification from an NCTE-recognized institution are eligible for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V. However, they must complete a mandatory six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education, recognized by the NCTE, within two years of their appointment as a primary teacher.

6.       Hold a Post-Graduation degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade and have either passed or be in the process of completing a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed program.

Eligibility for CTET Primary Level (Class I to V)

To be eligible for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), candidates must meet specific academic qualifications. Here are the eligibility criteria:

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree and have either passed or are in the process of completing a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any recognized name).
  2. Alternatively, attain a minimum of 50% marks in either Graduation or Post-Graduation and have either passed or be in the process of completing a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  3. Possess a Graduation degree with at least 45% marks and have either passed or are in the process of completing a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) program in accordance with NCTE norms.
  4. Have a Senior Secondary certificate (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and have either passed or are in the process of completing a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  5. Alternatively, hold a Senior Secondary certificate (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have either passed or are in the process of completing a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed program.
  6.  Possess a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and have either passed or are in the process of completing a 1-year B.Ed. or B.Ed. Special Education program.
  7. Any candidate who has successfully completed a B.Ed. program recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear for TET/CTET. Additionally, as per the TET guidelines specified in the NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, individuals pursuing teacher education courses recognized by the NCTE or the RCI are also qualified to take the TET/CTET.
  8. Hold a Post-Graduation degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade and have either passed or be in the process of completing a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed program.

How to Apply

Step 1: Visit the official CTET website at https://ctet.nic.in.

Step 2: Click on the “Apply Online” link to access the application form.

Step 3: Complete the Online Application Form and make a note of your Registration No./Application No.

Step 4: Upload your most recent Scanned Photograph and Signature.

Step 5: Make the Examination Fee payment using a debit/credit card or net banking.

Step 6: Print the Confirmation page for your records and future reference.

Important Application Guidelines

Registration Procedure:

  •  Step 1 – Authentication Form:
  • Fill in your details such as State, Identification type (choose a relevant identity type),  Candidate’s          Name, Date of Birth, and Gender.
  • Step 2 – Fill Online Application Form:
  • Complete the online Application Form and create a password. Upon submission, a Registration Number/Application Number will be generated. Make sure to note down the Registration No./ Application No. This Registration No./Application No. and the chosen Password will be used for subsequent logins.

Password Policy:

  1. Password must be 8 to 13 characters long.
  2. Password must include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one numeric value, and at least one special character.
  3. You can change the password after login if desired. The new password cannot be the same as any of the previous three passwords.
  4. Keep your password confidential, and do not share it with anyone. Neither CTET nor NIC will be responsible for any misuse or violation of your password.
  5. Always log out at the end of your session to prevent unauthorized tampering of your application.
  • Step 3 – Online Uploading of Scanned Images:
  1. Uploading scanned Photos and Signatures is mandatory.
  2. Upload scanned photographs and signatures in JPG/JPEG format.
  3. The size of the scanned photograph should be between 10 to 100 KB.
  4. The image dimension of the photograph should be 3.5cm (width) x 4.5cm (height).
  5. The size of the scanned signature should be between 3 to 30 KB.
  6. The image dimension of the signature should be 3.5cm (length) x 1.5cm (height).
  7. Prepare the scanned images of your latest photograph and signature in JPG format, ensuring they meet the specified size and dimension before applying online. This photograph will be matched with you on the examination day.
  • Step 4 – Downloading of Confirmation Page:
  • Take a printout of the Confirmation Page for your records. You do not need to send the Confirmation Page to the CTET Unit.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure your eligibility before applying, and take personal responsibility for meeting the given eligibility criteria.
  • Enter your particulars, including Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, and Date of Birth, as per your Class Xth Certificate. No changes will be accepted after the specified date for online corrections has passed.
  • Application submission is online through the CTET website https://ctet.nic.in. Provide all required details and upload scanned images of your latest photograph and signature. After successful submission, print the Confirmation Page.

Correction/Updation in Details:

  • Once the examination fee has been submitted, you cannot change or edit your particulars. However, corrections (except the city of examination) may be possible during a specified period, which will be notified on the CTET website.
  • The board will not be responsible for any consequences arising from the non-acceptance of corrections, additions, or deletions in any particulars once filled in the Application Form, regardless of the reasons.
