Educational Qualification & Experience (Very Important)

A candidate must possess:

1. A Degree in Law conferred or recognized by Universities in Kerala, and
2. Enrollment as an Advocate with the Bar Council, and
3. Not less than 3 years of active practice in Criminal Courts as on 01 January 2025.

Mandatory Certificates

• Certificate of Enrollment from the Bar Council
• Experience Certificate of 3 years of active criminal court practice
  • Issued by a Judicial Officer not below the rank of First-Class Judicial Magistrate
  • Format provided in the official notification

Note: Criminal court practice undertaken as part of the LLM will be considered as valid experience.

Training, Probation & Service Conditions

Training

• Mandatory 180 working days of training after appointment
• Training stipend as prescribed by the Government
• Training period counts for increment, pension, and probation

Agreement

Selected candidates of Asst Public Prosecutor Job 2026 must execute an agreement:

• To complete the training
• To serve the Government for a prescribed period after training
• To refund the stipend if resigning prematurely (except on medical grounds)

Probation

• 2 years on duty within a continuous period of 3 years

Departmental Test

• Must pass the Account Test for Executive Officers or the Account Test (Lower) during probation, if not already passed
