1. Obtained a degree in Engineering from:

  • A university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
  • An educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or recognized as a university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

2. Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).

3. Obtained a degree/ diploma in Engineering from a foreign university/ college/ institution recognized by the Government of India.

4. Passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).

5. Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/ Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.

6. Passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London (held after November 1959).

Note:

·         Pay Scale – Rs. 56100-177500/-

·         Age limit: 21 to 30 years.

·         Age relaxation is extra as per norms.

UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025: How  to Apply

1. How to Apply:

  • Candidates must apply online only through the website www.upsconline.nic.in.
  • First-time applicants need to register on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform available on the Commission’s website before filling out the application for UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025.
  • OTR registration is a one-time process, available year-round. If already registered, candidates can directly proceed with the online application.
  • Candidates applying for the Engineering Service Examination must submit the required documents (date of birth, category [SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwBD/ Ex-Servicemen], educational qualifications, etc.) along with the application form. Failure to provide the necessary documents within the given correction window will result in the cancellation of the application.

2. Modification in OTR Profile:

  • Candidates can modify their OTR profile only once in a lifetime, within 7 days from the closure of the application window of their first final examination application.
  • For those applying for the first time, the last date for modification in the OTR profile is 15.10.2024.

3. Modification in Application Form (Other than OTR Profile):

  • Candidates can make corrections in their application form fields for this examination from 09.10.2024 to 15.10.2024 (7 days after the application window closes).
  • Note: OTR profile modifications during this period must be done via the OTR platform, not through the application form modification window.
  • Brief instructions are in Appendix-IIA, and detailed instructions for filling out the application are available on the Commission’s website.

4. Application Withdrawal:

  • Application withdrawal is not permitted after submission.

5. Photo ID Requirement:

  • Candidates must provide details of one Photo ID Card (e.g., Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, Passport, Driving License, etc.) while filling out the online form. This ID will be used for all future reference and must be brought to the exam or personality test.

6. Last Date for Submission of Applications:

  • The online application can be submitted from 18.09.2024 to 08.10.2024 (6:00 PM). After this, the application link will be disabled.

7. e-Admission Certificate:

  • Eligible candidates will receive an e-Admission Certificate on the last working day of the week preceding the exam. This can be downloaded from the UPSC website. No hard copies will be sent.
  • Ensure to provide a valid and active email ID during registration, as the Commission may contact candidates electronically.

8. Penalty for Wrong Answers:

  • For Objective Type Question Papers, there will be a negative marking for wrong answers.

Plan of UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025.

1. Stages of the Examination:

  • Stage I: Engineering Services (Preliminary/Stage-I) Examination (Objective Type) for selecting candidates for Stage-II.
  • Stage II: Engineering Services (Main/Stage-II) Examination (Conventional Type).
  • Stage III: Personality Test.

2. Preliminary Examination (Stage-I):

  • Two objective-type papers:

§  Paper 1: 200 marks

§  Paper 2: 300 marks

§  Total: 500 marks.

  • Candidates qualified in Stage I will be eligible for Stage-II.
  • Marks obtained in Stage-I will count towards the final merit.
  • About 6-7 times the number of vacancies will be selected for Stage-II.
  • Note:

§  Minimum qualifying marks will be set by the Commission.

§  Negative marking for wrong answers:

§  One-third (1/3) of marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

§  Multiple answers will be treated as wrong, and the same penalty applies.

§  No penalty for unanswered questions.

3. Main Examination (Stage-II):

  • Two conventional type papers in Engineering Discipline:
  • Each paper: 300 marks.
  • Total: 600 marks.

4.  Personality Test (Stage-III):

  • Carries 200 marks.

5. Final Ranking:

  • Marks from Stage-I, Stage-II, and Stage-III will determine the final ranking.
  • Candidates will be allotted services based on rank and preference.

6. Special Instructions:

  • Read Appendix-III (Part A and B) for instructions on objective and conventional type tests.
  • Visit www.upsc.gov.in for details.

7. Personality Test Focus:

  • Assesses leadership, initiative, curiosity, tact, social qualities, mental and physical energy, practical application, and integrity.

8. Language:

  • Conventional papers must be answered in English; question papers will be set in English.

9. Syllabus:

  • Details of the syllabi for Stage I and Stage II are available in Section III.

Instructions for Filling Online Applications

1. Website: Apply online at www.upsconline.nic.in.

2. Application Process: The online application form consists of four stages: Part-I, Part-II, Part-III, and Part IV. Follow the instructions provided on the website via the drop-down menu.

3. Application Fee: Pay Rs. 200 (except for SC/ ST and those exempted). Payment options:

  • State Bank of India branches
  • Visa/ Master/ RuPay Credit/ Debit Card
  • UPI
  • Internet Banking.

4. Photograph & Signature: Ensure scanned copies of your photograph and signature are in .jpg format, with each file size between 20 KB and 300 KB.

5. Matriculation Certificate: Have your matriculation certificate ready. The details (Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, and Date of Birth) in the application form must match the certificate.

6. Photo ID: Keep details of a valid Photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter Card, PAN, Passport, Driving License, etc.) ready. The same ID must be used throughout the examination process.

7. Application Window: The online application form (Parts I to IV) can be submitted from 18th September 2024 to 8th October 2024 till 6:00 PM.

8. Multiple Applications: Avoid multiple submissions in the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025. If unavoidable, ensure that the higher Registration ID (RID) is fully completed.

9. Higher RID: In the case of multiple applications in the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025, only the application with the higher RID will be considered. Fees paid for one RID cannot be transferred to another.

10. Email ID: Provide a valid and active email address for communication. The Commission will use electronic modes to contact candidates at various stages of the exam.

11. Email Notifications: Regularly check your email, ensuring that communications from the Commission (ending in @nic.in) are not sent to the spam or other folders.

12. Early Submission: Apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues. If a candidate decides not to appear for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025, they can withdraw their application.
