1. Registration

  1. Register on the GDS Online Engagement Portal: https://indiapostgdsonline.gov.in to obtain a registration number.
  2. Use an active email ID and mobile number for registration; all communications will be sent to them.
  3. The same mobile number and email ID cannot be used for multiple registrations.
  4. Duplicate registrations (with altered details) will result in disqualification.
  5. If the registration number is forgotten, it can be retrieved using the ‘Forgot Registration’ option.
  6. Documents required for registration:
    • Mobile Number (OTP verified)
    • Email ID (OTP verified)
    • Aadhaar Number (if available)
    • 10th Exam details (Board, Year of Passing)
    • Scanned Photo (<50 KB, .jpg/.jpeg)

2. Payment of Fee

  1. Fee Amount: ₹100 for all applicants except females, SC/ST, PwD, and transwomen, who are exempted from payment.
  2. Payment can be made online via Credit/ Debit Cards, Net Banking, or UPI.
  3. Note down the Registration Number before making the payment.
  4. The fee is non-refundable, so check eligibility before payment.

Selection Criteria

  1. Merit-Based ShortlistingCandidates will be shortlisted based on a system-generated merit list.
  2. Merit CalculationThe merit list is prepared using 10th standard marks (converted if needed) up to four decimal places.
  3. Marks Consideration – If both marks and grades are available, only marks will be considered. If only grades are available, candidates must enter grades as per their mark sheet.
  4. Grade ConversionIf only grades are available, marks will be calculated using a multiplication factor of 9.5.
  5. CGPA CalculationIf CGPA is provided, marks will be calculated as CGPA × 9.5. The higher value will be used if both CGPA and subject-wise grades are available.
  6. DBSE CandidatesCandidates from the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) must enter percentages from their marksheet; applications using grade points will be disqualified.
  7. Tamil Nadu SBSE 2020-21 CandidatesCandidates awarded a pass certificate due to COVID-19 will be assigned 66.67% marks uniformly.
  8. Tie-Breaking CriteriaIf two or more candidates have the same score, merit will be determined in the following order:
    • Older candidates (DOB-based)
    • ST Trans-woman > ST Female > SC Trans-woman > SC Female > OBC Trans-woman > OBC Female > EWS Trans-woman > EWS Female > UR Trans-woman > UR Female > ST Trans-male > ST Male > SC Trans-male > SC Male > OBC Trans-male > OBC Male > EWS Trans-male > EWS Male > UR Trans-male > UR Male
    • Additional criteria may be introduced if required.
  9. Application RejectionIncomplete applications or incorrect document uploads will be rejected.
  10. Undertaking RequirementShortlisted candidates must submit Annexure-IX, ensuring the authenticity of their provided details.
  11. Correct Entry of Personal DetailsName, Date of Birth, Father’s & Mother’s Name must match Matriculation Certificate.
  12. Photograph & Signature Clarity— Applications with blurred/illegible photographs or signatures will be rejected.

Job Profile: Gramin Dak Sevak Recruitment 2025

  1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)

    • Manage daily postal operations of Branch Post Office (BO) and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
    • Promote and market departmental products/services at Customer Service Centres (CSC).
    • Ensure smooth office functioning, mail conveyance, and delivery (especially in single-handed BOs).
    • Perform combined duties of Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) when needed.
    • Provide suitable accommodation for the BO before engagement and reside in the post village.
  2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

    • Handle sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery, and transactions of IPPB.
    • Assist BPM in postal operations and CSC activities.
    • Perform BPM duties if required.
    • Undertake other tasks assigned by superiors.
    • Reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the concerned BO.
  3. Dak Sevak

    • Sell stamps/stationery, deliver mail, and handle IPPB transactions.
    • Work in Railway Mail Service (RMS) sorting offices if needed.
    • Manage mailbag handling and transshipment in mail offices.
    • Assist Postmasters in departmental office functions and business procurement.
    • Reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the concerned HO/SO

Important Instructions for Gramin Dak Sevak Recruitment 2025:

1.       Notification Changes: The department reserves the right to modify, cancel, or revise the number of posts without prior notice.

2.       Communication:

o    Candidates must regularly check the GDS Online Engagement Portal for updates.

o    The Department does not make phone calls to applicants. Communication is only through the Engaging Authority.

o    Do not share personal details (registration number, mobile number, email ID) with others.

3.       Application Status & Queries:

o    Applicants can check their application status using their registration and mobile number.

o    Division-wise help desk numbers are available on the website. Queries will not be entertained through other means.

4.       Correction Window:

o    A 3-day correction period is available after the application deadline (except for mobile number & email ID).

o    Changes requiring fee payment must be completed as per the prescribed procedure.

o    Once modified, the previous application becomes void, and merit will be based on the revised application.

5.       Eligibility Restrictions:

o    Candidates dismissed/ removed/ compulsorily retired from Govt. service/ GDS positions cannot apply.

o    If false information is found, the candidate’s selection will be canceled, and legal action may be taken.

6.       GDS Job Conditions:

o    GDS are civil post holders but are outside the regular Civil Services of India. Governed by GDS (Conduct & Engagement) Rules, 2020.

o    TRCA & allowances details are available at www.indiapost.gov.in.

7.       Undertakings at Engagement: Selected candidates must submit an undertaking for:

o    Computer knowledge (Annexure VI)

o    Cycling skills (Annexure VII)

o    Adequate means of livelihood (Annexure VIII)

8.       Marksheet Verification:

o    Class X mark sheets will be verified through the DigiLocker API SETU Portal of the Ministry of IT.

o    Candidates must provide consent (Annexure X) for verification.

9.       Additional Restrictions:

o    Elected officials are not eligible for GDS engagement.

o    GDS employees cannot work for outside agencies that conflict with Post Office/IPPB interests.

o    Past experience/service is not considered in selection.
