IOCL Apprentices Exam 2023; Apply Now!

Indian Oil Corporation Limited. A Govt. of India Undertaking.

Qualification Criteria for Technician Apprentices:
  1. Educational Qualification: To be eligible, your Class XII / Graduate / Diploma qualifications must be from a recognized Board/University/Institute as a regular full-time course in the relevant trade/discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and PwBD category candidates for reserved seats). If you’ve received CGPA/OGPA or Letter Grades, you need to indicate the equivalent aggregate percentage of marks in the Online Application. A certificate from the concerned University/Institute is required for verification.
  2. ITI Qualification: For ITI qualification in the relevant trade, pass marks are necessary. Only regular full-time ITI courses recognized by NCVT/SCVT will be considered.
  3. Eligible Qualification: Only specific Branches/Subjects as specified against the respective Trade/Discipline will be considered eligible qualifications. Qualifications in other than specified Branches/Subjects won’t be considered.
  4. Equivalent Qualification: Possessing a qualification equivalent to the prescribed qualification is not accepted.
  5. Fresher Apprentice: A “Fresher apprentice” is a non-graduate apprentice without prior institutional or skill training before taking on-the-job or practical training under the Apprentices Act, of 1961.
  6. Skill Certificate Holders: Candidates applying with Skill Certificates in ‘Domestic Data Entry Operator’ should have a skill certificate for training of less than one year issued by a recognized authority.
  7. Lateral Entry Scheme: Candidates with a Diploma in Engineering in a relevant trade/discipline under a recognized lateral entry scheme are eligible, subject to meeting the prescribed percentage of marks based on the aggregate of all semesters in the diploma course.
  8. Part-Time/Correspondence/Distance Education: Qualifications acquired through part-time, correspondence, or distance education are not considered eligible.
  9. Higher Professional Qualifications: Candidates with higher professional qualifications like BE/B. Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA, or equivalent qualifications, or those pursuing higher qualifications, are not eligible.
  10. Apprenticeship Training: Candidates who have undergone Apprenticeship Training earlier or are currently pursuing such training are not eligible.
  11. Job Experience: Candidates with job experience of one year or more after acquiring the qualification are not eligible for Technician Apprenticeship.
  12. Eligibility Period: Candidates who completed three years or a prescribed period after acquiring the qualification are also ineligible for Technician Apprenticeship.
  13. Specific Disciplines: B.Sc. and B.Com candidates have specific restrictions on the trades/disciplines they can apply for.
  14. Multiple Applications: Applying for more than one Trade/Discipline is not allowed, and such applications will be rejected.
  15. Date of Result: If the date of result declaration is missing from the Mark Sheet, a certificate from the institution is required during Document Verification.
  16. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs): PwBDs are considered for select disciplines only and need to submit a specific certificate during the application process.
Selection Methodology for Technician Apprentices:
  1. Selection Based on Written Test: Candidates will be selected based on their performance in a two-hour Written Test and meeting the specified eligibility criteria.
  2. Handling Tie Scores: In case of tie scores in the written test, the candidate’s age (seniority) will be the deciding factor for ranking.
  3. Issuing Call Letters: Eligible candidates will receive call letters for the Written Test based on the information provided in their online applications.
  4. Test Locations: Written Tests for different refinery units will be conducted at specific locations. The exact venue details will be provided in the Admit Card.
  5. Objective Type Questions: The Written Test will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options, of which one is correct.
  6. Minimum Qualifying Marks: To proceed in the selection process, a candidate must secure a minimum of 40% marks in the Written Test. For SC/ST/PwBD candidates, the minimum qualifying marks are 35%. However, meeting these marks does not guarantee selection; it depends on the candidate’s rank in the merit list, eligibility criteria, and document verification.
  7. PwBD Candidates: PwBD candidates with eligibility concessions will be considered for reserved seats based on merit within their category.
  8. Discretion of Management: The filling of seats is at the discretion of the management and is based on candidate suitability. No claim for engagement will arise if seats remain unfilled due to unsuitability or insufficient candidates.
