Important Instructions:

  1. Negative Marking: There will be a penalty for wrong answers in objective-type question papers.
  2. Mark Deduction: For each wrong answer, one-third of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted.
  3. No Penalty: If a question is left blank, no penalty will be applied.
  4. Centers and exam dates are subject to change by the Commission.
  5. Except for Delhi, Dispur, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, centers will have a limited number of seats.
  6. Allotment of centers is based on a “first-apply, first-allot” policy. Once a center’s capacity is filled, it will be frozen.

1. Stage-I: Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

  1. Candidates must apply online to UPSC Combined Geo Scientist Exam 2025 via https://upsconline.nic.in by registering first on the One-Time Registration (OTR) platform.
  2. OTR is a one-time registration process, valid for a lifetime, and can be done anytime. If already registered, candidates can proceed directly to the online application.
  3. Required documents such as date of birth, category (SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwBD/ Ex-Servicemen), educational qualifications, etc., must be uploaded during the application process.
  4. Modification in the OTR profile is allowed once after registration and within 7 days after the closure of the first application. The last date for OTR modification is 01.10.2024.
  5. Corrections in the application form (except the OTR profile) are allowed from 25.09.2024 to 01.10.2024. Changes to the OTR profile can only be done through the OTR platform.
  6. No withdrawal of applications is permitted after submission.
  7. Candidates must provide details of a Photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, Passport, Driving license, etc.) while applying and upload a scanned copy. The same ID must be carried out for all examination stages.
  8. The last date for submission of applications to the UPSC Combined Geo Scientist Exam 2025 is 24th September 2024, by 18:00 hours.
  9. E-Admission Certificates will be available for download from the UPSC website on the last working day of the week before the exam. No certificates will be sent by post, and a valid email ID is required for communication.

Common Instructions for Stage-I (Preliminary) and Stage-II (Main) Examinations of UPSC Combined Geo Scientist Exam 2025.

1. Marking and Writing Papers:

o    Candidates must mark/write answers themselves.

o    Scribe assistance is allowed for candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected – BA), or cerebral palsy.

o    Other categories of benchmark disabilities may use a scribe with a certificate from a government healthcare authority.

2. Scribe Eligibility:

o    Candidates can opt for their scribe or request one from the Commission.

o    The scribe’s qualifications should not exceed the minimum required for the exam, but they must be at least matriculated.

3. Compensatory Time:

o    Candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (BA), or cerebral palsy will get 20 minutes extra per exam hour.

o    Other candidates with disabilities must provide a certificate to receive compensatory time.

4. Scribe Conduct:

o    Scribes must follow UPSC guidelines, and violations may lead to the cancellation of the candidate’s application.

5. Metric System:

o    Question papers will use the Metric System for Weights and Measures.

6. Stage-III (Personality Test/Interview):

o    Carries 200 marks, with no minimum qualifying marks.

o    Candidates will be shortlisted for interviews based on marks from Stage II.

o    The interview will assess leadership, initiative, intellectual curiosity, social qualities, energy, integrity, and adaptability for field life.
