The Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released the official notification for Direct Recruitment to the post of Multi-Tasking Staff (General)—MTS(G) for the year 2025. A total of 362 vacancies have been announced across multiple Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs) in India. The recruitment process includes Tier-I (Online Objective Test) and Tier-II (Descriptive Test), followed by document verification and medical examination.

Exam Pattern (Scheme of Examination)

Tier-I: Online Objective Test

  • 100 Questions – 100 Marks – 1 Hour
  • Negative marking: ¼ mark per wrong answer
  • Sections:
    • General Awareness – 40 marks
    • Quantitative Aptitude – 20 marks
    • Numerical/Analytical/Logical Ability & Reasoning – 20 marks
    • English Language – 20 marks

Tier-II: Descriptive Test

  • English Language and Comprehension
  • 50 marks – 1 hour
  • Qualifying only; minimum 20 marks required
  1. Tier-I Online Exam
    1. Candidates must score a category-wise cut-off:
      1. UR: 30, OBC: 28, SC/ST: 25, EWS: 30
    1. Shortlisting for Tier-II will be 10 times the vacancies, subject to marks.
  2. Tier-II Descriptive Exam
    1. Qualifying in nature (20/50 minimum).
  3. Final Merit List
    1. Based solely on Tier-I marks (Tier-II only qualifying).
  4. Document Verification
  5. Character & Antecedent Verification
  6. Medical Examination
  1. Visit www.mha.gov.in or www.ncs.gov.in.
  2. Complete Step I Registration by entering personal & contact details.
  3. Receive Application Sequence Number (ASN) via email/SMS.
  4. Log in and fill Step-II: personal details, educational info, domicile info, category, etc.
  5. Upload:
    1. Recent passport-size color photo (100–200 KB)
    1. Signature (80–150 KB)
  6. Pay the applicable fees using online or challan mode.
  7. Submit the form and download the final submitted application for future use.

Candidates must keep the following ready for future verification:

  • Matriculation/10th certificate (proof of DOB & name)
  • 12th, Diploma, or Graduation certificates (if applicable)
